Science, education, and community working together to prevent and manage concussions

FOR PARENTS

From the beginning, the goal of our program has been to enhance the health and safety of Maine high school athletes. One of the ways we’ve accomplished our goal – besides the important baseline and post-concussion testing that we do – is through education.

When it comes to concussion recognition and management, there is nobody more important than the parent. In this section of our web site, look for news of the latest research and tangible advances in the understanding of concussion – a preventable injury that strikes ten-percent of the athletes playing contact sports.

Keep up with the latest on concussion news through our Facebook page – which is updated daily.

Here is a blog by Paige Decker, who played hockey during her time at Yale University. “I want people to know they’re not alone in what they’re going through and that there’s help out there,” Decker said. “The hardest part for me was not knowing how to get healthy.”
